The Hustle. There it is. Quarantine has been an opportunity to slow down, mull over, rethink, reconsider, reevaluate the lives we are leading. And it has been enormously formative for me to sit in that space, while I had the time. And now here I am returning to The Hustle. Or attempting to. So here is what I have to offer:
Music Lessons: I have been teaching for 6 + years and maintain a studio that I adore! Working with all ages and skill levels, with an emphasis on technique, and a method that allows students to follow their personal interests. With online lessons, I can teach anyone, anywhere. And I don’t only teach the bass!
Upright/electric bass, all levels, all genres
Piano, guitar, ukulele for beginners
Music composition/song writing for all musicians
Theory for all musicians
Commissions: composing has been a passion of mine since I was wee, and while I have done very few commissions, I am inspired to do more. Need a special song for a loved one? Some underscoring for your film? An instructional sing-along? Let’s get creative!
Recording: hire me to play bass (upright and electric) on your next project! I have a lo-fi but effective home studio set up for working remotely.
Graphic Design: an avid user of photoshop, my side hustle has been designing graphics for myself and fellow artists for many years now, including but not limited to…
Business cards
Website design
Album Art
Flyers & posters (for teaching, concerts, etc.)
Marketing (need a FB banner image for your new music page? I gotchyu)
Higher Education: I recently gave a lecture at the University of Minnesota (over Skype) about building a freelance music career. I loved being able to answer questions and provide insight to students in college who aren’t sure what is next for them, post-graduation. If you teach at the college level and would like to feature a guest in your class surrounding this topic, I’m the guy for the job!
~ ~ P a T r E o N ~ ~ click HERE to support me on Patreon. This is a really fabulous way to regularly and consistently support my art while receiving something in return. All patrons get access to exclusive material, including recordings, writings, videos, etc. Any amount you choose to contribute is HUGE and I am enormously grateful to those who have subscribed thus far.
Bandcamp: I have three projects with music for sale on Bandcamp: Earthtoneskytone , Here to Play & February <3
Working as an artist in Seattle has its upsides and its challenges. I feel so lucky to be a part of this truly distinct community and LOVE making music with the friends I have here. I have had some recent changes in my life that have left me in a bit of a lurch, but rather than fret, I would like to take this opportunity to BUILD; build community, build connections, build my career, whatever it takes. And when we transition out of this pandemic, my hope is to plant sustaining seeds that flourish beyond the quarantine. Please reach out to me if you want to build with me. If you need a place to play music, teach, practice drums, rehearse, record, let me know and maybe I can safely provide a place for you. Let’s work together!
All the love, and thank you so much for reading.
